Dental implantation
— is a surgical procedure in which a denture is placed in place of a lost tooth.
Dental implantation
— is a surgical manipulation to insert a titanium implant into the bone tissue of the upper or lower jaw for subsequent prosthetics.
Today, dental implantation is the most advanced method of restoring damaged or completely missing teeth (after extraction or loss). It is a method that avoids the use of removable dentures. It is successfully used by dental clinics all over the world.

Indications
- unilateral and bilateral end defects of dental rows;
- missing one tooth;
- complete absence of teeth on the upper or lower jaw;
- inability to use removable dentures due to the peculiarities of the profession, intolerance to acrylic plastic, the presence of a gag reflex to foreign bodies in the oral cavity.
Dental implantation makes it possible to restore a missing tooth without damaging neighbouring teeth and without using removable prostheses in case of total defects of tooth rows.
Treatment planning with an orthopaedic dentist is done in advance of the removal.
The patient is referred for a CT scan of the jaws to determine the width and height of the bone tissue and the location of anatomical formations.
All manipulations consist of the following steps

1. Preparatory
Preliminary examination, consultations with allied specialists, preparation of an individual treatment plan. Professional oral hygiene is mandatory.

2. Surgical
Local anaesthesia is applied for dental implantation. A gingival incision is made in the area of the missing tooth and the gum is pulled back. The implant site is prepared in the bone tissue, then the implant is placed with the necessary force. A plug is inserted into the implant, and then sutures are applied. After the operation, a control x ray photo is taken.

3. Intermediate
After the implant has been placed, 3-6 months later (depending on the lower or upper jaw), a gum former is placed on the implant under anaesthesia to form the future gingival margin for the permanent crown. In some cases, at the discretion of the doctor, this stage is included in the main surgical procedure.

4. Orthopaedic
After 2 weeks (or more, at the doctor's discretion) after placement of the gum moulder, the patient comes for an appointment with an orthopaedic dentist to take impressions and fabricate a crown on the implant.
Dental implants are the best way to renew lost teeth
Lack of teeth is not a verdict for modern dentistry in Ukraine. Dental implantation is the best way to solve the problem. This procedure allows you to restore not only one tooth, but the whole row. Forget about uncomfortable removable dentures! Dental implantation is quite complex, but it allows you to restore the aesthetics and functionality of the jaw. This and other services are offered by our specialists at the Dent-House Family Dentistry Clinic. Prices can be found in the “Price” section.
What is dental implantation
Dental implantation is a surgical procedure in which a prosthesis is placed in place of a lost tooth. A dental implant (post), which is a titanium screw, is implanted into the bone tissue. Subsequently, the prosthetic restoration is performed. An abutment – a kind of adapter – is placed on the screw. The dentist attaches a crown to it, imitating a real tooth. The colour of the prosthesis is selected individually. As a result, the construction does not differ from the native teeth. It looks very aesthetically pleasing, and chewing functions are restored. Dental implantation is performed when:
- the loss of one or more teeth;
- single or bilateral tooth defects;
- to repair various traumas to the jaw;
- inability to fit removable dentures;
- if the patient does not wish to have a bridge fitted.
Unfortunately, the procedure is not suitable for everyone. The dentist may refuse dentures if:
- autoimmune diseases;
- endocrine problems;
- malignant tumours;
- diabetes;
- psychoneurotic illnesses;
- cardiovascular problems;
- periodontitis in the acute phase;
Implants should not be performed on pregnant women, children under the age of 18, or people who are addicted to alcohol or drugs.
How the process of dental implantation takes place
Dental implantation is a complex procedure that requires serious preparation. Initially, a CT scan is performed to assess the condition of the bone tissue of the jaw. Next, a consultation with an orthopaedic dentist is carried out, who collects an anamnesis. It is also necessary to take standard analyses. After preparation, such manipulations are carried out:
- Professional hygiene. Dental cleaning, treatment of tooth decay and removal of dental calculus are mandatory.
- The surgical stage. This is the implant procedure, which is performed under local anaesthesia. The dentist cuts the gum and prepares a bed for the future screw. Then the doctor implants the pin, places a plug and sutures. After the procedure, X-rays are taken to make sure that the surgery was performed correctly. The dentist then gives the patient 3-6 months for the implant to take root.
- Intermediate. After the time limit has expired, the doctor makes an incision and places a gum former on the implant.
- Prosthetic. After 1-2 weeks, the dentist will place an abutment and take impressions for the future prosthesis. Based on the impressions, a dental laboratory will fabricate a crown to replace the lost tooth.
Sometimes doctors use a one-stage implantation method – a post and a temporary prosthesis are placed at the same time. After 3-5 months, it is replaced with a permanent denture. The dentist determines the type of procedure individually.

What is included in the cost of implants
Since implantation is a surgical procedure, it is important to eliminate all risks. Therefore, the cost of dental implantation depends on many factors. The following main stages are provided:
- Consultation. The doctor performs an examination, assesses the complexity of the work, and selects a treatment method.
- Examination and development of a treatment plan. The specialist prescribes an X-ray (computed tomography). Indications and contraindications are discussed with the patient. If necessary, treatment of teeth and gums is carried out.
- Professional cleaning of the oral cavity. Special attention is paid to choosing the right hygiene products, strengthening gums.
- Anaesthesia. Implantation is performed under anaesthesia: local anaesthesia or medicated sleep.
- Implant placement. How much a tooth implant costs depends on the material, quality, manufacturing company, and placement technology.
- Placement of a gum moulder. This is done to restore the correct gingival contour.
Until the implant has taken root, the tooth is covered with a temporary denture. The price of a permanent crown depends on the materials used and the method of attachment.
Additionally, bone augmentation may be required, as well as bone tissue in the maxillary sinus area.
What components affect the price of a tooth implantation
The price of a dental implant is based on the average cost of the components:
- Abutment (bone fragment of the implant system structure). It is made of titanium or zirconium. The price of the latter is considerably higher.
- Temporary denture (crown).
- Permanent crown. Metal-free crowns and fixed dentures made of zirconium dioxide are now popular.
Thus, the price of a tooth implant is determined in each case individually, depending on the amount of manipulation required and the average price of components.
