Dental inlays

Dental inlays

Dental inlays are primarily an opportunity to replace an extracted or severely damaged tooth while preserving chewing function and natural appearance.

This design is used to restore teeth, as are posts on which crowns are also attached.

The Dent-House Clinic in Odessa performs professional placement of dental inlays and other dental implants. Despite the rather modest age of the technology, our specialists have become one of the few in Odessa who professionally cope with this rather complex procedure.

How does a dental inlay differ from a post?

The principle and function of inlays and pins are virtually identical. The difference lies in the type of fixation.

  1. The post is screwed directly into the bone of the upper or lower jaw and then a crown is placed on top of it. Until a certain time, posts were the predominant means for dental implants.
  2. Dental inlays live up to their name and are fitted into the root canal of a tooth, leaving a so-called stump on the tooth surface for the future crown. Before the inlays are placed, the tooth is depulped so that the inlay can be cemented into the root canal.

In addition, unlike a post, inlays are not placed in one procedure, but in several stages.

Indications and contraindications for inlay placement

Dental inlays

Dental implantation with inlays is indicated in cases of severe tooth decay, before the placement of crowns or bridges, as well as in the absence of possibility or inefficiency of filling.

Contraindications to this treatment include a destroyed root canal, gum inflammation and granuloma.

Types of inlays

Depending on the number of roots in the tooth to be treated, a distinction is made between full-cast and split inlays. In the first case, they are moulded as a non-disposable structure designed for teeth with two or three roots.

Collapsible inlays, on the other hand, consist of two parts – the post and the residual limb. They are designed to be placed in teeth with a single root canal.

The materials include metal, ceramic and metal-ceramic prostheses. Metal prostheses are the most durable, as they can withstand heavy loads. Ceramic prostheses are not far behind – in addition, they also fit tightly to the neighbouring tissues and look exactly like the natural substance of the tooth. Metal-ceramics is a very hardy material, but in the long term it tends to break the seal due to poor metal compatibility.

How do we install an inlay on a tooth in the “Dent-House” clinic in Odessa?

The first step is to have a mandatory consultation with your dentist so that the best material and treatment approach can be selected for you.

Prior to the procedure, the mouth is sanitised and then the root canals of the tooth are filled and cleaned. Afterwards, an impression of the tooth is made and sent to a dental laboratory to create a unique denture.

When the inlay is ready, the canals and gums are sanitised and the cementation of the denture begins. The inlay is pressed firmly against the tooth to ensure a good fit.

In Odessa such treatment costs from 15000 UAH depending on the amount of work and complexity of its implementation.

Doctors of the clinic “Dent-House” provide maximum comfort and confidence to patients during treatment. We have gathered the best dentists of Odessa, so that your teeth were always healthy.
